Selling Suspicion: The Kerala Story and the Business of Anti-Muslim Propaganda
In this episode of Karvaan India Spotlight, we unpack the meaning behind a court-ordered pause that is being widely mischaracterised as a ban. What does a judicial stay actually signify? How does it differ from censorship? And why does that distinction matter in today’s charged media climate? We examine the legal reasoning, the institutional process, and the larger political economy around grievance cinema. Beyond the headlines, this conversation situates the court’s intervention within a broader debate on freedom of expression, due process, and the monetisation of controversy. This is not outrage. It is analysis. One issue. No noise. Just clarity. Support independent journalism. Gaza Is Under Siege. India Has Chosen Alignment.
Description: Gaza is facing unprecedented devastation. Tens of thousands have been reported killed. Millions displaced. Civilian infrastructure shattered. Legal scrutiny at The Hague. Emergency sessions at the United Nations. At the same time, India has deepened and consolidated its strategic partnership with Israel. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent outreach signals not hesitation, but alignment. How did India move from consistent solidarity with Palestinian statehood to calibrated abstentions and now strategic caution? What does this shift mean for India’s global positioning, its ties with the Global South, and its own diplomatic doctrine? This video examines the humanitarian context, the legal developments, and the geopolitical calculations shaping India’s stance today. If you believe journalism must slow down to see clearly, support independent work. Qateel Shifai – Do Jahanon Ke Shayar.mp4
A tribute to one of Urdu poetry’s most beloved voices, Qateel Shifai, the poet who bridged two worlds, romance and realism, pain and grace, cinema and classical verse. From deeply personal ghazals to immortal film lyrics, his words travelled across generations, carrying the fragrance of longing, memory and quiet rebellion. His poetry was not merely written, it was felt, lived and sung. This video revisits the journey of a poet who belonged to both do jahan, the intimate world of emotion and the vast world of collective experience. When the Snow Remembered: Kunan Poshpora, Thirty Five Years On
On the night of 23 February 1991, in the twin villages of Kunan and Poshpora in Kupwara district of Kashmir, a counter-insurgency operation turned into one of the most contested and painful human rights allegations in the history of the conflict. Villagers alleged that mass sexual violence was carried out during the cordon-and-search operation. What followed was denial, silence, intimidation, and a long struggle for justice. In this episode, we revisit Kunan Poshpora not as a slogan, but as lived memory. We examine the official response, the legal battle led by survivors, the role of civil society, and the way this incident continues to shape conversations around accountability, gendered violence, and impunity in conflict zones. This is an attempt to listen carefully, report responsibly, and remember truthfully. ناصر کاظمی اور جدید غزل (Nasir Kazmi aur Jadid Ghazal)
Syed Nasir Raza Kazmi was born on 8 December 1925 in Ambala, in undivided India, into a family that cherished education and literature. Steeped early in the richness of Persian and Urdu classics, he developed a sensibility that would later redefine the modern ghazal. But it was the upheaval of 1947 that marked him most profoundly. Partition tore him away from his birthplace and brought him to Lahore, a city that became both sanctuary and symbol in his poetry. The wound of migration, the memory of what was lost, and the fragile hope of rebuilding life in an unfamiliar landscape echo through his verses. In this video, we explore how displacement shaped Nasir Kazmi’s poetic voice and how solitude, longing, and quiet resilience became the defining textures of his ghazal. Governing Gender Apartheid by Taliban
Afghanistan’s Taliban authorities have revised provisions in the national penal framework that define the threshold for prosecutable domestic violence. According to reporting from Kabul and assessments by international human rights organisations, the revised wording specifies that certain forms of domestic “discipline” do not constitute a criminal offence if they do not result in “broken bones or open wounds.” #taliban #afghanistan #domesticviolenceawareness #genderequality #women #southasia
