On August 29, 2024, the Delhi High Court allowed former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and ex-BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh an additional two weeks to file his contentions seeking the quashing of the FIR and charges against him in a sexual harassment case brought by several women wrestlers.

Justice Neena Bansal Krishna granted the extension and scheduled the matter for further hearing on September 26. Singh's petition seeks to challenge both the charge sheet and the proceedings related to the case.

The plea faced opposition from the State and the victims' counsel, who argued that it was not maintainable. Senior advocate Rebecca John highlighted that, despite one complaint being time-barred, charges were framed based on the complaints of five victims, indicating thorough consideration by the trial court.

During the hearing, the court questioned Singh about his decision to file a single petition to contest both the charge framing and the FIR, as well as other related proceedings.
